From USSoccer.com – The U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team finished third out of four teams in the Val-de-Marne Tournament, after falling 3-0 to Russia and 2-0 to France.

The U-16s were coming off a strong 2-1 victory vs. England in their first matchup, but Russia proved to be a tough opponent to face in the U-16 BNT’s second fixture of the tournament. They found the back of the net early, taking a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute of the game. The USA was able to keep Russia’s attack at bay, but were not able to finish in the final third. Maksim Kutovoi’s second half brace in the 57th and 68th minutes sealed a 3-0 victory for Russia.

The U.S. then faced host France in their third and final match of the tournament. The entirety of the match was hard-fought, but France was able to get past U-16 BNT goalkeeper Nicolas Defreitas-Hansen in the 34th minute and once again in the 58th. The USA finished the tournament with a 1-2-0 overall record.
